R&D Manager () Biocide & Pet Product Development (m/w/d)

Our biocide and pet care categories – anchored by RepellShield and Belly & Paw – are key growth drivers. To strengthen our product development efforts, we are seeking a R&D Manager (m/f/x) with expertise in chemistry to focus on biocides and pet care formulations. This role offers a pathway to a team lead position, providing opportunities for growth within our high-performance innovation team.

A passion for hands-on lab work and creating preeminent products is essential for this role. You will drive formulation excellence, ensuring our products meet the highest standards in efficacy, safety, and consumer experience.

Tasks

• Conduct hands-on laboratory work to develop and refine innovative biocides and pet care formulations.
• Monitor stability, efficacy, and safety of products, troubleshooting failures and optimizing formulations.
• Collaborate with regulatory, brand management, procurement, quality, and operations teams to align R&D activities with business objectives.
• Comply with EU biocide regulations, assist in safety assessments and claim validation.
• Establish and maintain partnerships with external labs, suppliers, and research institutions.
• Document R&D processes to ensure transparency and reproducibility.
• Manage project timelines and contribute to strategic product innovation efforts.
• Support B2B client projects from concept to commercialization, also in cosmetics, ensuring alignment with customer needs.

Requirements

• Master’s in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field (a strong chemistry foundation is essential).
• 3+ years of experience in biocides, pet care, or household formulations. Some exposure to pet supplements and cosmetics is a plus.
• Passion for hands-on formulation work, with a drive to create best-in-class, high-performance products.
• Deep knowledge of formulation chemistry, active ingredients, and stability testing.
• Familiarity with EU regulatory frameworks (e.g., Regulation (EC) No. 1223/2009, BAuA registrations, ISO 22716).
• Experience with microbiology, preservative efficacy testing (PET), and patch testing.
• Ability to collaborate in cross-functional teams and communicate technical findings to non-technical stakeholders.
• Business fluency in English (German is a plus).
